Weasel

Weasel is the basic Information Overlaid package. It combines Easel, our Java applet for plotting data on images, with the core libraries for integrating it with the rest of the site. It provides simple Javascript calls for

• plotting points using images as icons,
• defining mouse-sensitive areas (hot spots), and
• specifying callbacks for mouse clicks and drags,

Weasel can use outlining or image manipulation to highlight and select markers or hot spots, either on mouse rollover or when instructed by the application.

With only a few dozen lines of Javascript, Weasel can build a Drag and Drop interface, such as a shopping basket, or provide a rich, interactive information presentation, such as those shown in the User Interface section of the Gallery.
